Failed Acquisition
A poem about cowboys and corporations
You wanted a western, but I'm running my heart like a billion-dollar business. I can't take that risk. I don't want to get shot down. But no contract can ever secure a promise. Maybe I'll just turn off the movie for now. I know the ending, I wrote it before it even happened. You put on your cowboy boots. I button up my business suit. And you ride off into the sunset, but not without a wink. I close down the stock market, read the reports. When have numbers ever lied? Yet I can't help but wonder if I'm missing out on expansion, a merger with terrible terms. But I don't want to be another partner in your crime; the partner you'll face in the canyon. A climax always needs betrayal. You did raise your gun first, you just didn't expect me to shoot. Corporate is as vicious as the cowboy. I wonder if you bled, even just a drop. Because I got off with a scratch and a board that still doubts my call. I have always hated westerns. Nothing ever happens but staring contests, and I think we've done enough of that, for now.

Such a cool vibe 👏🏻
